#SpiritOfGiving: Empowering Nigeria`s Young Dreams

“First I’d like to say all of our children, Nigerian children, are special. They are special because the future of our nation belongs to them, and they have all that it takes to give our country a great future.” – Prof.Yemi Osinbajo, Former Vice President, Nigeria. Towards this endeavour, the Travelwings Nigeria CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activity of empowering Nigeria’s young dreams invests in quality education. The idea is to positively impact the lives and young dreams of Nigerian kids and their future. Bringing in the company’s ninth anniversary in March, Travelwings dedicated the entire month to the #SpiritOfGiving with incredible projects, touching the lives of many. Here is one such heartwarming experience in Nigeria, West Africa.

#SpiritOfGiving: Empowering Nigeria`s Young Dreams

As a company, we understand that a nation’s bright future lies in the welfare and progress of young dreams. It is a known fact that Nigeria’s education system struggles with issues of insufficient funding and lack of adequate facilities. In an attempt to support and connect with young minds, the Travelwings Nigeria team gave out educational resources during their visit to Abeokuta, Ogun State. Travelwings provided 300 exercise books/textbooks, 10 soccer balls (to support the sports facilities), and 100 chairs/tables to the 100-year-old Baptist Primary School and the 80-year-old Lisabi Grammar School in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta. Children from both schools greeted the Travelwings staff, the organizer team (OLANB), and attendees with laughter and delight. The new school furniture and books resembled a canvas brimming with boundless potential.

Travelwing Nigeria’s CSR initiative symbolizes an investment in quality education going beyond furniture and books. It ignites the flame of enthusiasm that promises to illuminate the learning journey for many generations.

“This hand of love and fellowship from Travelwings is quite commendable as it will make learning more fun for the children.”

It will help to decongest sitting arrangements of four or three pupils on a seat and make learning more interesting.”

Mrs. Christianah, Head Teacher of Baptist Primary School, expressed her gratitude for Travelwings’ support. While emphasizing the positive impact it will have on students’ comfort and learning experience.

Mrs Olufunmilayo Joseph, the Principal of the Junior Section of Lisabi Grammar School, praised Travelwings for their contribution. She highlighted the significance of such donations in enhancing educational facilities.

In parallel, the CSR initiative alongside planted trees exemplifies a holistic approach and interconnectedness between education and environmental sustainability. The company representatives, the staff and students of the schools, planted 20 coconut trees and 10 flower plants within the school compounds. This collaborative effort aimed to enhance the greenery and beauty of the school environment. This activity offered the children a firsthand experience of the importance of climate change and environmental stewardship.
